How to use the age calculator

A person's age may be counted differently in different cultures. This calculator adopts the most common age system. In this system, a person's age grows by one year on their birthday. For instance, the age of a current 3-year-old and 11 months 11-month-old person is 3, and the next birthday is in 1 month. This age system is the most commonly used in the West.

In a few cultures, in order to maintain the ages both at the time of the last birthday and the current date, years are reckoned to the last birthday instead of to the current date.

For instance, someone who is twenty years old is the same age as someone who is in their twenty-first year of life.

In one of the classical Chinese age systems, people are born at age 1, and their age increases at the Traditional Chinese New Year instead of their birthday. To illustrate, if a baby is born the day before the Traditional Chinese New Year, 2 days later, he or she will be the age of 2, although only 2 days have passed.

In some cases, the month and day calculation of this age calculator may be incorrect, but in most cases, it is fairly accurate. For instance, we consider Feb. 20 to Mar. 20 to equal one month. But there are two possible methods here to determine how old you are from Feb. 28, 2022, to Mar. 31, 2022. If we’re counting Feb. 28 to Mar. 28 as one month, then you’re one month and 3 days in. If you count both Feb. 28 and Mar. 31 as the end of the month, then the answer is one month. Both calculation results are reasonable. Similar pairs of dates include Apr. 30-May 31, May 30-June 30, etc. That ensues because some months have an odd number of days. Here we will employ the former.
